Why should this surprise anybody?

I have laughed with sadness over the last few years as Muslim terrorists have been apprehended in Europe, accused of terrorist plots, while US pundits, the media, commentators, even conservative commentators opine that it is a European problem, as no such thing could happen in this nation, as American Muslims, even those born in Muslim countries are assimilated into the American culture and consider themselves American first and Muslim second.

These so-called 'experts' again say that it is a European problem, 'as these Muslim immigrants are marginalized from societty, not intergrated into their culture and thus live outside of the mainstream society', something they say does not happen in America.
*
Well, I have news for these so-called experts and dare I say naive and out of touch, in denial commentators.
*
The US have a rather large assimilated Muslim community.
*
There are some 4 million Middle Eastern Muslims in the US, most of whom indeed are Americanized, though they keep their Muslim traditions. Nothing wrong with that, as while I strongly consider myself strongly American, I still observe the traditions of my forefathers.
*
However, you take even just 1% from those 4 million Muslims, a whopping 40,000 people and can pretty much assume they lean more towards the lands of their birth, or lands of their parents and do not feel as American as the others. And 40,000 Muslim fanatic, America-hating individuals is an awful lot of bad people.

Even take one tenth of 1%, 4,000 Muslims and that still makes a formidable force to reckon with, 4,000 terrorists roaming around the US.
*
Why would you not believe that one tenth of one percent of US Muslims could be radical? Do you believe it possible that one tenth of one percent of Americans could be extremists of one sort or another, both left wing and right wing? So 4,000 out of 4 million actually is a very small percentage. But I pick that number just to make the point about the threat we face.

Add to those the foreign Muslim terrorists that cross our borders just about on a daily basis, as has been learned (they pay Mexican drug dealers to sneak them into the US), and we have a very serious problem in our hands.

These Muslim terrorists crossing into the US did not come here looking for a better life, as illegal immigrants for the most part do. These Muslim terrorists come here for one purpose, and one purpose only, to find ways, or to follow an already planned mission, to create havoc in this country.

Since 9/11/2001 law enforcement officials, officially, not mentioning those they do not disclose for security reasons, have apprehended dozens of terrorists while in the process of planning terrorist attacks in this country.

But these are mostly what they call 'lone wolves,' Muslims inspired by the Jihadists worldwide, mostly following 'recipes for terror,' which they find in Muslim extremist web sites.
*
The vast majority of the terrorists now living in the US are part of what are called 'sleeper cells,' groups of terrorists that are laying low, operating under the proverbial radar and waiting for the right moment, or orders from overseas to strike predetermined targets.

It would not be farfetched to believe that were there a Middle-Eastern war, which now seems a huge possibility, giving the events of the last month, these terrorists would receive the order to spread all over this nation and set off their assigned attacks all over the place. Their missions could be as 'soft' as setting off bombs in shopping centers, or as lethal as setting off 'dirty bombs,' easily constructed small radioactive bombs, which they can set off in major cities and kill and/or infect with radiation thousands of civilians, men, women and children.

This is a real problem in this country. As real as it is anywhere else in the world. Except that when they do decide to strike here the terror they will spread will be much worse than the rather small operations undertaken in Europe and other places.

But it was a matter of time before the Muslim Jihadists made inroads in this nation and both find Muslim-Americans they could recruit, while also sneaking trained terrorists through our porous borders.

Have we been lucky so far in catching some of these bad guys before they strike, as they just did in Texas?

Not really. Yes, we have captured a bunch, but perhaps just the dumb 'lone wolf' ones that stood out and got caught.

I believe the real terrorists, those that will inflict heavy damage are still waiting around, lying low until they are ordered to carry on their missions.

Saudi Citizen in Texas Charged in Suspected Bombing Plot

The FBI has arrested a 20-year-old Saudi student in Texas suspected of planning a terrorist attack using explosive chemicals. The FBI says his possible targets included the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush.

Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, attending college near Lubbock, Texas, was charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. Federal prosecutors say he had been researching online how to construct an improvised explosive device using several chemicals as ingredients.

Federal authorities say Aldawsari's diary indicated the young man had been plotting an attack for years and obtained a scholarship so he could come directly to the United State to carry out jihad.
*
Aldawsari is expected to appear in federal court in Lubbock on Friday morning.
*
